This article about my next book The Bedtime Train was just recently published in a Connecticut based magazine…and was pretty cool to stumble upon. Well actually somebody called me and told me about it.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

In between crosshatching, writing and looking at furniture with Erica today–I took a bit of time to paint a quick self portrait. I held the canvas in every which way and also used an easel for a bit. After I painted it I placed it on the wall to dry, like anybody would. I liked how it came out so I also wanted to scan it. When I finally laid it down on my scanner I noticed that on the inside of the frame was a creepy mama spider and her hundreds of little babies. So, me being me I flipped the canvas over and scanned their image as well. The canvas and its family are now hanging happily back on the wall.

Lesson learned: Probably not a good idea to leave your art supplies in a garage for long.

Behemoth

Experimenting with a story I have been penning on the side for about a year now–but this time I’m writing in pictures only to begin. Don’t know where it will take me–if even to a place where I come out with an actual story or just hundreds of tiny crosshatched illustrations. I think I will know in a few weeks if it is something of merit.

Black and White

Thursday night 1:47am-I cannot get myself off of this B/W, small format, crosshatching kick–feels like college again. Actually it has only been about 3 days but in that span I have made 27 drawings between the sizes of 1.5″x1.5″ to 4″x6″. The initial round of drawings are for an exhibition/fund-raiser that I have agreed to doing, but then they just kinda took on this form of a way to tell a story.  I’m hoping that I can just sit back and crank out many of these small images and then create a tale around them.  If not–I will still have loads of these doodles that I will be able to use as coasters for my tea.  p.s.  Manny traded ti the Dodgers…will be missed on the Sox.

I started working today on a series of 1.5×1.5″ crosshatched drawings–here are the first 19
