Classes
I will be teaching this workshop from April 26-27, 10am-4pm at The Guilford Arts Center-Guilford, CT http://www.handcraftcenter.org/
Illustrating Children’s Books: A beginners process to the art, layout and promotion of your book.
This will be a two day workshop that begins by allowing the students to show their portfolios, stories and project ideas. We will discuss and I will show how I create a visual layout from my texts–the rough sketches up to the final finished art ready for publication.
I will also demonstrate how to create a sample book or “book dummy” as a tool to promote your book to agents and publishers.
We will also discuss the correct avenues for the students to go down to begin a career–looking at book publishers, magazine, trade, toys, etc, and strengthening or beginning a portfolio.
Previous art training for the students is helpful. Students will bring with them a list of items that I will draw up before the class begins.
